Signs and Symptoms of Penile Cancer
Penile cancer is cancer found in the skin and tissue of the penis. 9 out of 10 cases of penile cancer is a type squmous cell carcinoma. Incidence of penile cancer is very rare in Europe and in North America, an estimated incidence of penile cancer is 1 in 100,000 men. In America, there are data that indicate cancer of the penis causing the death of about 0.1% of total cancer deaths, while in Africa and South America an estimated 10% of total cancer in men is cancer of the penis.
- Penile cancer usually appears under the foreskin, in men who are not circumcised. Symptoms of penile cancer may include any of the following;
1. A, velvety reddish rash.
2. Growth is not sick, ulcers or sores on the penis, especially on the foreskin or glans.
3. A, persistent foul-smelling discharge under the foreskin.
4. A wart like growth.
5. Any change in color on the penis or foreskin.
6. In the advanced stages of lymph nodes in the groin may swell. This is a less common symptom.
7. There are other genital conditions, which may also have symptoms such as genital herpes or syphilis. It is important to discuss changes to the penis is not unusual with your doctor or visit a GUM clinic.
