What is lung cancer - lung?

Lung Cancer - Lung is a class of disease characterized by out-of-control cell growth, and lung cancer occurs when uncontrolled cell growth begins in one or both lungs. Rather than develop into healthy lung tissue of normal, abnormal cells continue to divide and form a lump or mass of tissue called a tumor. Tumors disrupt the main function of the lung, which is to provide blood flow to oxygen must be brought to the entire body. If the tumor remains in one place and showed limited growth, is generally considered to be benign.

More dangerous, or malignant, tumors formed when cancer cells migrate to other parts of the body via the blood or lymph system. When the tumor had spread to other parts of the body and grow, invade and destroy healthy tissue, is said to have spread. The process itself is called metastasis, and the result is a more serious condition that is very difficult to treat.

Lung cancer is called "primary" if the cancer comes from the lung and the "secondary" if it originated elsewhere in the body but has spread to the lungs.


These two different types of cancer are considered from the perspective of diagnostics and treatment.
